Norman J. Miller, Sr., 72, of Cherry Township, Dushore, PA, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Monday evening, August 30, 2010.

He was born on July 19, 1938, in Forksville, PA, a son of the late Frederick and Dolores Bevan Miller.

Norman is a veteran of the United States Navy, and a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College.

On October 13, 1961, Norman married the former Virginia Phillips in Hillsgrove, PA, they have celebrated nearly 49 years of marriage.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Civil Engineer for PennDOT.

From 1964-1994, he played softball throughout the area. He played in the AA Pennsylvania Major Softball League and the Williamsport City League. His team played and defeated King & Court twice.

He was a former member of the Mildred American Legion Post No. 452.  He was a member of Evergreen Lodge No. 163, F.&A.M., and was a Past Master and served as Chaplain for many years, and was a member of Williamsport Consistory.  He was a County Commissioner from 1996-2000; He was an EMT, and a member of the Mildred Fire & Ambulance Company, White Ash Association, and was a Deputy Sheriff. He was also a Cherry Township Emergency Coordinator, and also served on the Sullivan County Planning Commission, and the Northern Tier Transportation Authority Advisory Board.

He is survived by his wife: Virginia Miller, at home; by three children: Molli  (Bill) Kinsey, of Dushore, PA,  N. James (Nancy) Miller, of Millville, PA, Michele (Luke) Burkhardt, of Franklin, PA; by sister and brothers: Nesta Myers, of Forksville, PA, Henry Miller, of Dillsburg, PA, Larry Miller, of Carlisle, PA; by four grandchildren: Ethan and Ryan Kinsey, and Andrea and Aaron Burkhardt.; and by special friend Millie Dessify.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Sheri Lynn Miller in 1962; and by a sister: Naomi Brown in 1989.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, September 3, 2010, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 4, 2010, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore, PA.

Masonic Funeral Services will be held Friday evening.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Pastor John Klem, of the Fundamental Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, and is a four year veteran of the United States Navy.

On December 12, 1976, he married the former Pamela Schroth in Camptown, PA.

He loved working throughout the area as a technician and installer for the former Commonwealth Telephone Company now Frontier, giving 38 years of dedicated service.

Robert is a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church; Wyalusing American Legion Post No. 534; Towanda Gun Club; a Legion Board Member; former Wyalusing Fire Chief; he served 8 years on the Wyalusing Boro Council; was a member of the Wyalusing Rainbow Club; and the Wyalusing Little League. Bob loved his community and history.

His hobbies include: R.C. Airplanes at Montrose Airport, he loved boating; Geo Cashing; enjoyed riding his Harley; and he was a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hunting fishing, camping, horseback riding, and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: John Burns.

A Mass will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Monarchuck, as celebrant.

Pallbearers: Frank Holdren, Jeff Edsell, Matt Kennedy, Joel Edsell, Malcolm Wech, Chip Welles, and Derek Frederick. Honorary pallbearers: Wayne Felter, Sr. and Ray Huffman.

Interment will be in Wyalusing Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by Wyalusing American Legion Post No. 534.

Richard R. Hugo, age 78, of New Albany, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda, PA.

He was born on November 6, 1931, in New Albany, PA, a son of the late Ralph A. and Orill B. (Hatch) Hugo.

Richard is a graduate of Estella High School.

On June 28, 1952, he married the former Grace Streby Hugo. Richard and Grace had celebrated their 58^th wedding anniversary.

Richard has been a resident of New Albany for 56 years, and was a member of the Evergreen Christian Church.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by GTE Sylvania, giving 37 years of service.  He also owned and operated his own butcher shop.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors, he also enjoyed music and working on his yard.

Surviving is his wife: Grace Hugo, at home; five children: Randy and Florence (Dieffenbach) Hugo, of Evergreen, PA, Sheryl (Kevin) Rider, of Towanda, PA, Diane O’Connor (Jim Wilcox), of New Albany, PA, Ronnie and Louise (Bouse) Hugo, of Sugar Run, PA, Rick and Kim (McCustker) Hugo, of Evergreen, PA; by two sisters: Evelyn Glossenger, of Towanda, PA, Yvonne Haunke, of San Diego, CA; by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters: June Wilson and Rose Mary Wade.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Christian Church, with the Rev. Michael Dodd, his pastor officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther’s Mills, PA.

Glenn F. Stethers, age 87, of Wysox Township, passed away on August 11, 2010, at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on April 29, 1923, in Herrick Township, a son of the late Roy and Eva Clark Stethers.

His parents passed away when he was 10 years old due to a house fire on December 11, 1933. He was then raised by his aunt and uncle Lillian (Stethers) and Fred Daugherty in Mercur.

Glenn was a member of the Camptown High School Class of 1942, and graduated as Class Valedictorian.

On October 16, 1947, he married the former Winola Allis in the Camptown Parsonage. Glenn and Winola have celebrated more than 62 years of marriage.

He was a member of the Standing Stone United Methodist Church.

Glenn was a farmer and worked for Sylvania.  He later was employed by Procter and Gamble in Mehoopany in Waste and Water Treatment, retiring in 1988.

His organizations included: Meals on Wheels, the Wyalusing Area Senior Citizens, and the Towanda Area Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife Winola Stethers and son Richard Stethers, at home; by his daughter and her fiancée: Donna Barbuto and Robert Jones, of Springfield, PA; by three grandsons: Joseph and Tony Barbuto, and Justin Brown; by 5 nieces, 2 nephews, and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle: Lillian and Fred Daugherty; a brother: Howard of Naperville, IL in 1998; a brother George of Fairbanks, AL in 2004; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Karl and Julia Allis; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lyle and Ina (Park) Allis.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at South Hill Cemetery, Orwell Township, with the Rev. William Westbrook, officiating.

Donald M. Rohe, 83, of Overton Township, New Albany, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 2, 2010.

He was born January 11, 1927, in Sullivan County a son of the late LeRoy and Mary Rohe.

He was raised by Lawrence and Alberta Rohe, who he considered Mom and Dad.

On September 26, 1956, he married Jeanette P. Vough in St. Paul’s Church.  His wife Jeanette preceded him in death on April 25, 1998.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by McCarty-Driscoll saw mill.

Donald was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Overton.

His other memberships include: VFW Post No. 384, and the Elks Lodge, in Towanda, PA.

Donald loved his time spent in the outdoors, and enjoyed walking.  He took great pleasure in helping other people – in the wintertime, plowing, and in the summertime mowing lawns.

He is survived by “his kid”: Jessica Hoover (Mark Parsons), of Overton; special friends: Joe and June Hoover, of Overton; special friend: Elsie Fassett, of Overton; by several nieces and nephews, and by his beloved cats.

In addition to both parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Julius A. “Whitey” Renshaw, Jr., age 85, of Dushore, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at his home.

He was born on February 4, 1925, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Julius A. and Mary Jane (Hopper) Renshaw.

He is a graduate of Easton High School in Maryland, and is a veteran of the United States Marines, and served during World War II.

Mr. Renshaw has been a resident of this area since 1949, having moved from Northeast Maryland.

Prior to his retirement, he was engaged in dairy farming.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Overton.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was skilled in carpentry, and he and his wife enjoyed working with Trehab for many years, helping repair and maintain properties for over 12 years until 2001.

He leaves surviving his children: George B. (Gana “Prama”) Renshaw, of Dushore, Mike A. (Signe) Renshaw, of Andover, MN, Jon A. (Patricia) Renshaw, of Dushore; two brothers: Harvey E. Renshaw, of Northeast MD, Donald Renshaw, of Tomball, TX; and by 6 grandchildren, 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Joyce S. Renshaw on December 18, 2001; a daughter: Susanne; a grandson: Timothy, and by a sister: Laura Jones, of West Palm Beach, FL.

Memorial services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be private in the Chemung Cemetery.

Bruce Allen Clouse, age 51, of Wyalusing, passed away on July 6, 2010, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private.

A time of visitation and remembrance has been scheduled for friends and family on Sunday, July 11, 2010, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Wyalusing Valley Jr.-Sr. High School.

Bruce Allen Clouse, age 51, of Wyalusing RR 1, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, from a school related accident.

He was born in Newton, NJ on May 4, 1959, a son of Gerald Clouse, Sr. and Charlotte (Hyatt) Clouse.

Bruce graduated from North Warren Regional High School in Blairstown, NJ.

Bruce was employed by the Wyalusing School District.  Prior to that he worked for Taylor Meat Packing.

On February 14, 2004, Bruce married Vicki Crawford in Stevensville.

He is survived by his wife: Vicki Clouse, at home; daughters: Melissa Clouse and fiancé Tim Knowles, of Wyalusing, PA, Becky Clouse and fiancé Drew Mickey of Nanticoke, PA, Erin Clouse, of Wyalusing, PA; Mckenzie Clouse, of LeRaysville, PA, Julia Clouse, at home;  granddaughter: Aryssa Knowles; parents: Charlotte and Gerald Clouse, Sr., of Wyalusing; sister: Marsha (Greg) Vough, Augusta, NJ; brothers: Terry (Carmen) Clouse, of Marlboro, NY; Brian (Cindy) Clouse, of Rome, PA, Gerald (Debbie) Clouse Jr., of Wyalusing, PA, James Clouse, of Wyalusing, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Tiffany; and maternal grandparents: Rebecca and Theron Hyatt; and paternal grandparents: Margaret and J. Hampton Clouse.

Following a three year battle with cancer, Wendell R. “Wendy” Wilson, age 87, of Wyalusing, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Wendell was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on November 15, 1922, a son of Wm. Ridley Wilson and Fannie (Carr) Wilson.

In his early years, the family moved to Quincy, Florida.  As a result of enjoying sports, he participated in basketball and football, and was a member of the Boy Scouts.  Graduation from high school was in 1941.

Wendy traveled to Connecticut where he worked for the American Sumatra Company.

Along came World War II; he volunteered to become a member of the U.S. Navy.  Wendell was a member of the crew of LOIK 489 which sailed across the Atlantic for training.  In June 1944, they participated in the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach.  On the first trip, they put 500 men of the First Division (Big Red One) on the beach.  Upon discharge, Wendy stayed in the Reserves and in time, was recalled to serve during the Korean War.

On July 12, 1947, he married Ellen Leavenworth.  Wendy and Ellen shared a loving and devoted marriage; next week they would have observed their 63^rd wedding anniversary.

In 1947, Wendy began working for the Postal Department; in 1954 he was given a transfer to the Rummerfield Post Office.  After some time, this post office was closed and the area served became part of the Wyalusing Post Office where he worked until his retirement in 1979.

Wendell was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church.  He became active in a number of activities that involved the youth of the area; coached Little League, flag football, accompanied the local Boy Scout troop at a Summer Camp and Polar Bear outings, and was a Counselor of the Explorer Troop.

For twenty-one years he was a member of the Wyalusing School Board, and a 50 year member of the American Legion, Free and Accepted Masons, Order of the Eastern Star (served as Worthy Grand Patron), and a 40 year member of Scottish Rite.

In his younger years he was a member of the Wyalusing Volunteer Fire Department and the Ambulance Association.

Wendy is survived by his wife, Ellen M. Wilson, at home; three sons: Gary (Gail) Wilson of Erie, PA, Bruce (Cindy) Wilson, of Millerstown, PA, and Brian (Tracey) Wilson of Mechanicsburg, PA; a sister: Virginia, of Georgia; a brother:  Ralph, of Florida, and by two granddaughters: Emily and Sydney.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Dan; and by his sisters: Francis and Eva.

An Eastern Star funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 10:45 a.m. in the Wyalusing United Methodist Church, by members of LeRaysville Chapter No. 498, OES.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m.  in the Wyalusing United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Penney Rahm, his pastor officiating, and Rev. Myles T. Bradley, of Pittsburgh, assisting.

Full military honors will be accorded in Wyalusing Cemetery immediately following by members of the Wyalusing American Legion Post No. 534, and by active U.S. Navy personnel.

Paula Ann Finan Lee

Paula Ann Finan Lee, 47, from Lancaster, PA, formerly of New Albany, PA.

On a beautiful summer evening Paula, wife, mother, and sister went to be with the Lord.

She was born on March 20, 1963, in France, a daughter of Leonard and Adelaide (Hembury) Finan. 

Paula fought at courageous 15 year battle with pulmonary disease.

She enjoyed her time spent reading, crocheting, making beaded jewelry, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived her husband: Gerald (Tink) Lee, of Lancaster, PA; son: Dustin James Lee, of Lancaster, PA; son: Clayton Paul Lee, of Lancaster: siblings: Barb (Milo) Putnam, of Spring Lake, PA, Roger (Beatrice Elliott) Finan, of New Albany, PA, Mary Oakley, of Danville, PA, William (Ling) Finan, of Carlsbad, CA; and by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard (Pop) Finan on 12-10-93, and Adelaide (Addy) Finan on 4-16-1998.
